The 39-year-old basketball great has been nominated by his fellow American Olympians to be the men’s flag bearer, with the female flag bearer to be announced later. James, a two-time gold medalist, will be competing in his fourth Olympics in Paris, France.
“It’s an honor to represent the United States on the world stage, especially during a time when the world can come together,” the Lakers star said.
For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means a lot to me, not only for myself, but also for my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, my fellow Olympians, and all the other people around the country who inspire me the most.
